Minesota House
The St. Croix House (left) and the Minesota House (right) were built before the spelling of the state's name was confirmed. These hotels likely housed some of the attendees of the Stillwater Convention.

The Stillwater Convention is held. Delegates from unorganized territory formerly in Wisconsin meet and pass a resolution to be presented to the United States Congress asking for the organization of a new territory named "Minnesota." Because of this convention, Stillwater is later known as the "Birthplace of Minnesota."
